Many Germans head to the Canary Isles to escape the icy winter back home. In addition to the British, Germans is the largest group of tourists on the Canary Isles.
While the Brits prefer to spend their vacation on Tenerife, most Germans head for the diverse island of Gran Canaria. The prices on the Canary isles are lower than on mainland Spain, something that helps when you are on a thrifty holiday. The climate is also far better on the Isles during the winter season than compared to mainland Spain.
