Throughout the 1990s huge chunks of the Berlin Wall suddenly began to disappear, re-appearing in some of the most unusual places (including a men's bathroom in Las Vegas. Berlin's longest remaining chunk is now the East Side Gallery - the world's longest open-air gallery.
It's a huge collection of artwork, that is resprayed about once per year, just to make sure that everything doesn't fade into no-readability. It's right next to the River Spree, and on the border between the neighbourhoods of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain.
Don't miss the Brezhnev-Honoecker kiss piece, based on an actual event when the then leader of East German and the leader of the Soviet Union accidently connected lips during a celebration that was only meant to be cheek kissing. East Bloc loving. Yeah.
