Berlin's most famous crossing point between East and West and a lasting symbol of the city's fragile Cold War relations. Checkpoint Charlie is commemorated today by an ersatz replica of the original American checkpoint and two historically inaccurate pictures of Soviet and American soldiers.
The picture of the Soviet soldier was even used without the model's permission, who originally thought the picture would be laid to rest in a catalogue somewhere in a closed vault, and only found out about his involvment when he visited the Checkpoint and by sheer co-incidence recognised himself.
There are actors at the Checkpoint daily, who also moonlight as strippers and escorts, offering to have their picture taken with you for a price.
Avoid the museum at all costs, it's disorganised, expensive and there is way too much information. It has even been known for people to faint inside out of
Why should I go
